Individual Psychotherapy

Specialties, Philosophy & Style, and Logistics

CLINICAL SPECIALTIES:  Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Grief & Loss, Obsessive-Compulsive Symptoms, Insomnia & Sleep-Related Problems,  Career & Work-Related Stress, Stress related to Life Transitions, Managing Parents with Personality Pathology, and Relationship Stress, including marital, family, workplace, and other relational struggles.

PHILOSOPHY & STYLE:  Dr. Miller conceptualizes patients' struggles from an existential perspective, which fully appreciates the role of our fundamental drives and those traits that are common across the human psyche and human experience.  As such, Dr. Miller's clinical "techniques" are integrative.  More specifically, he integrates existential, psychodynamic, humanistic, and cognitive-behavioral psychological theories with continental philosophy, theology, modern history, economic theory, anthropology, and six of the seven fine arts, as well as tenets of contemporary Japanese culture.  In addition, his engagement with patients emphasizes the hallmark (and cornerstone) of psychological health:  authenticity.

LOGISTICS:  Our clinical psychologist, Dr. Miller, is licensed and/or certified to treat clients in 37 States and U.S. territories via telehealth, so clients' travel and work demands do not interfere with their treatment.  Dr. Miller provides individual psychotherapy in a manner that fits the demanding, high-paced, and often fluid schedules of our clientele.  He offers afternoon, evening, night, and weekend appointments.  He also accommodates emergent scheduling changes, as clients' responsibilities necessitate.
