Dr. Miller provides comprehensive psychological evaluation and individual psychotherapy to adults of all ages, with particular expertise in serving legislators, legislative staff, law enforcement, former military, and other government agency employees, as well as civilians working in finance, medicine, journalism, and the legal industry.

Dr. Miller has extensive experience treating mood and anxiety disorders, including depression, bipolar disorders, generalized anxiety, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, specific phobias, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).  He also has extensive experience treating relationship difficulties, including marital, dating, family, and workplace relationships.

Dr. Miller conceptualizes patients' struggles from an existential perspective, which fully appreciates the role of our fundamental drives and those traits that are common across the human psyche and human experience.  As such, Dr. Miller's clinical "techniques" are integrative.  More specifically, he integrates existential, psychodynamic, humanistic, and cognitive-behavioral psychological theories with continental philosophy, theology, modern history, economic theory, anthropology, and six of the seven fine arts, as well as tenets of contemporary Japanese culture.  In addition, his engagement with patients emphasizes the hallmark (and cornerstone) of psychological health:  authenticity.

A Navy veteran with 12 years of active duty and reserves service, Dr. Miller served as a psychologist for the U.S. military in Japan, Germany, and across the United States.  He is also a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, where he provided psychological interventions and consultation within his regional combat zone as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps's Combat Stress Team.  While in the military, Dr. Miller earned numerous awards, including multiple Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals.

Dr. Miller received his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from William James College (Boston, MA) and his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, MA).  During his doctoral training, Dr. Miller was a Clinical Psychology Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School (Boston, MA).  Following his doctoral training, he interned with the Department of the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, where he commissioned as an Officer in the Medical Service Corps of the United States Navy.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Miller is an instructor at the Washington, D.C. campus of the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.  He has published and presented on a variety of topics, including treatment efficacy, depression, traumatic stress, military operational psychology, interventions for personality disorders, crisis intervention, hypnotherapy, aggression in youth, and suicide prevention.

Aside from his endeavors in psychology, Dr. Miller has been active in professional saké brewing and is a certified SCUBA diver.
